The completion of 4-laning LA Hwy 28 between Leesville and Alexandria is currently underway. Vernon Parish is 50 miles from I-49, 74 miles from I-10 and 120 miles from I-20.

Air Access

The nearest commercial air service is at Alexandria International Airport, only 45 miles away. Three airlines serve the airport with 39 flights daily. Leesville Municipal Airport is located 4 miles west of Leesville and has a 3,800 foot paved runway with instrument approach landing. An additional 1,200 feet will be added during the next three years. Repair services and fuel are available. Several other general aviation airports are in the area with airstrips adequate to land corporate aircraft.

Rail Service

Vernon Parish is served by the Kansas City Southern Rail Line which runs north and south through the parish. Bus Service Greyhound Bus Lines are available in Alexandria, just 45 minutes from Vernon Parish.

The Vernon Council on Aging offers daily transportation to the elderly, handicapped, and the general public to take them to the doctor, shopping, bank and other requests.
